Gauteng gets 3000 Crime Prevention Wardens
On 30 April, Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi, introduced a new crime busting unit for Gauteng, at Giant Stadium in Soshanguve
The Crime Prevention Wardens (CPWs) will be deployed in hotspots areas as part of targeted crime prevention operations. These interventions will contribute to reduction of serious and violent crimes in Gauteng.
These members have gone through vigorous training and are ready to hit the ground running by patrolling 24 hours in every Ward in Gauteng, working in tandem with other law enforcement authorities. This unit will be using high performance vehicles to tackle crime and protect Gauteng communities.
Premier Lesufi, reiterated that his government will implement e-policing in form of an e-panic button, CCTVs and drones to fight crime in townships, informal settlements and hostels.
