This year’s final will feature either of the teams who will progress in the semifinals to be played this weekend, with a Soweto Derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs kicking off on Saturday at 3pm at the FNB Stadium while Stellenbosch and Sekhukhune United will battle it out on Sunday at the Danie Craven Stadium.
The decision to host the Nedbank Cup final in Gauteng is a demonstration of the province’s ability to attract and host major events and a confirmation that the province has ample world class sporting facilities, hotels, health facilities and transport network that meet all the requirements for major events.
“This is one of the sporting events that we take pride in hosting as the Gauteng province. We hope the final will see one of the Gauteng soccer teams hoist the cup and cement our status as the home of champions”, said Premier Panyaza Lesufi.
The Nedbank Cup is the South African Premier soccer club knockout tournament, which sees professional soccer teams go head-to-head with grassroot developing teams to showcase the talent of development teams.
