One suspect fatally wounded during a shootout with the police in Mamelodi West

One suspect was fatally wounded during a shootout with the police soon after they robbed a petrol station and bombed ATMs in Mamelodi West, Tshwane, in the early hours of Thursday, 19 October.

Police received a complaint about a business robbery and ATM bombing at a petrol station. Police responded promptly and proceeded to the scene where they were met by an armed gang of approximately thirty (30), who started shooting at the police and a shootout ensued.

One suspect was fatally wounded while the others escaped. The suspects had allegedly robbed the petrol attendants and the cashiers of their cellphones and bombed two ATMs. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

A case of attempted murder, business robbery, and ATM bombing has been opened for investigation.
