Alleged con artist in court for over R600 000 fraud

Denis Nkosi (48) appeared in court on 30 October, after he was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team based in Germiston for fraud on 27 October.

This emanates from an investigation carried out by the team after a complainant opened a case in Alberton alleging that the suspect used fraudulent documents when he applied for credit with various suppliers and companies. The suspect allegedly started the Google account which he provided to all the companies he targeted posing as Raubex Construction.

His modus operandi was that he would rent bakkies from rental companies then hire drivers who would collect the goods and deliver them to a storage facility rented by suspect. The goods will be later sold or distributed to buyers at a lesser price.The suspect defrauded about 27 entities and criminal cases have been reported in various police stations.  

The one in particular which is in the area of Alrode, Alberton has suffered financial loss of R600 000.00. The suspect has been remanded for 14 days for formal bail application on the 13 November 2023.
