Police arrest a male suspect for allegedly stabbing a woman over the weekend
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has praised SAPS members for the swift arrest of a 34-year-old male suspect on allegations of attempted murder whereby a female victim was stabbed on Sunday, 4 February around 10:30.
According to a report, the incident is said to have occurred at Extension 10, Lebohang in Leslie. It is alleged that the two individuals, identified as party agents were somehow involved in a heated argument then the situation turned violent and it was during this time when the suspect allegedly attacked the woman.
The said incident reportedly took place during voter registration period. Details of the incident, which is still under police investigation, indicate that after the victim was stabbed, she was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment whilst a case of attempted murder was opened.
Members of the police investigated the matter hence they arrested the suspect today, Monday 5 February and charged him accordingly.The male suspect is expected to appear at the Leslie Periodical Court on Wednesday, 7 February facing an attempted murder charge.
